MEDICAL ASSISTANT

he Medical Assistant program has been designed to provide the student with the basic skills and knowledge necessary to work in various related areas of the Medical Assistant field, modern laboratory techniques and medical office procedures. Graduates will be qualified for an entry level position as a Medical Assistant. Also, this program meets the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services HIV/AIDS Education. A Medical Assistant Diploma is awarded.

PHARMACY TECHNICIAN

The Pharmacy Technician program prepares the student to obtain a position in both hospital and retail pharmacies under the supervision of a pharmacist. The program will teach the basic aspects of pharmacy practice, including reading, filling and distributing prescriptions. Also, the student will learn the legal responsibilities of a pharmacy for record maintenance and the handling of various categories of drugs, pharmaceutical calculations, medications, common drug interactions, their side effects and pharmaceutical agents and their uses. A Pharmacy Technician Diploma will be awarded.

PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN

A Dialysis PCT (D-PCT) is a specially trained technician that assists nephrology nurses with patients going through renal therapy. They engage in the same kind of training of a normal PCT but further enhance their profession by receiving training in hemodialysis. The D-PCT obtains vital signs, maintains patient records, assist in machine set-up, and other patient-care-related tasks. The D-PCT is one of the team members with the most direct, one-on-one contact with the patient. They establish close professional relationships with each patient and help them to cope with their treatment. The D-PCT works under the supervision of nephrology nurses and are a vital part of the healthcare team.

HOME HEALTH AIDE

Health aides perform various tasks related to personal hygiene and direct care with  geriatric patients, those with chronic illnesses, or others in need. Home health aides can make a substantial difference in the community, helping seniors live out retirement in their homes and ensuring they receive the support they need to thrive and enjoy life. Home health aides may work in nursing homes, hospitals, clinics, or as personal caretakers.
