This course introduces Principles of Electrocardiography, and Illustrates the electrical conduction system through the heart and the cardiac cycle; describe the electrical views of the heart recorded by the 12-lead electrocardiograph; compare and contrast electrocardiograph artifacts and the probable cause of each; interpret a typical electrocardiograph tracing, describe common electrocardiographic arrhythmias. Also assisting with Diagnostic Imaging: the basic principles of radiography and the types of x-rays, distinguish among the three body planes and use these terms correctly when discussing radiographic positions; precautions for ensuring the safety of equipment operators and staff members during x-ray procedures.

This course will teach students current phlebotomy practice and documentation, standard procedures for venipuncture practice, will cover infectious diseases and its prevention, how to use special equipment and possible complications. Also, protocols for venipuncture procedures developed by the Health Department will be addressed to the students with emphasis in accident prevention.
